1.Summary
The subjunctive in the present system is a formal category,falling
into two major types:be-subjunctive and were-subjunctive.In certain
formulaic expression_rs and certain that-clause when the
subordinate clause contains an element denoting volition and in
adverbial clauses of condition,concession,typically introduced by
if,though,etc,we use be-subjunctive.In certain adverbial clauses
introduced by if,if only,as though,though and on ways of expressing
hypothetical meanings,we use were-subjunctive.
2.Exercises on textbook
Rewrite the following,using be-subjunctive
She insists on his taking his vacation now.→She insists on he take
his vacation now.
Insist表示坚决要求时用虚拟语气。
I suggested his finishing up that project quickly.→I suggested he
finish up that project quickly.
Suggest表建议时用虚拟语气。
Put the verbs in brackets into the proper subjunctive form.
