教学内容:
1.新词汇:born, blind, deaf, normal, famous, mute
2.新句型:She was blind. So she couldn’t see. / She was deaf. So she couldn’t hear. But she could learn.
3. 一般过去时态,不规则动词过去式。
教学目标:
1.知识目标
通过创设情景和大量练习,让学生能够谈论现在和过去所具备和不具备的能力。
2.能力目标
在完成知识目标的基础上,通过游戏和阅读比赛活动的开展,培养学生的合作能力、竞争意识和综合运用语言知识的能力。

3.情感目标
通过学习Helen Keller这位世界上著名身残志坚有志之人的优秀事迹,让学生学有所得,学有所悟,希望她的精神能激励和教育我们的学生在任何时候遇到艰难永不退缩。
教学重难点:
重点:1学生能够用“could, couldn’t”来描述过去所具备和不具备的
能力。
2、不规则动词过去式。
难点:学生能够流利地使用正确时态来描述自己的能力,能够复述Helen Keller的伟大事迹。
教学过程:
Step1:Warm up
1Sing a song: La La Song
2Greeting: Hello/Good afternoon. How are you?
What’s the weather like today?
Step2:Presentation
T: Look at the screen. Let’s have a tongue twister.
A good cook could cook good cookies.
T: I can read it quickly. Can you? Who wants to try? You, please!
You did a good job! Thank you.
OK, I’d like to invite a boy and a girl to have a PK.
T: There is a word “could” in this sentence. Lets make sentences with it.
E.g: When I was a baby, I could cry.
When I was a baby, I couldn’t jump.
Pair work: Practice with your partner.
(Ss have a show.)
T: Look at these pictures. What do you want to know?
Who is she?
When was she born?
Where was she from?
Why was she famous
Read the text and get you want.
T: Boys and girls, you know Helen Keller was a very great woman.
Now I have one question for you. What happened to her?
Ss: She couldn’t see. She couldn’t hear. She couldn’t speak.
T: Children, this kind of people who couldn’t see, we call themblind”.b--l--i--n--d, blind.
This kind of people who couldn’t hear, we call them“deaf”. d-- e--a--f, deaf.
And people who couldn’t speak, we call them “mute”.m--u--t--e, mute.
T: Helen Keller fell ill and became blind and deaf. What do you think of
her life? Happy? Sad? Bored? Nothing?
How should we read this ? High or low voice?
T: Ok, lets read it by yourself. Who wants to read? (Good! /Excellent! /Clever!)
T: I think she could do nothing. Do you agree with me?
Ss: ...
T: What could she do?
(Please read picture 5 to 7 and find the answer.)
Ss: She could learn, read and write. What else
T: How should we read this part. We should read it with powerful voice.
Ss: (学生齐读)
T: She was blind. She was deaf .But she could do many things. Do you
like her? Why?
T: Yes, I like her. Because she was great/clever/perfect/helpful/cool…
T: This is Helen’s story. Let’s read the story one more time. OK?
Step 3: Practice

T: The story is in the past. So there are many past verbs.Can you find it?
2、 Find the past form of a verb and write it down.(找出下列单词的过去式并写下来。)

3Now take out your paper, try to make sentences with these past verbs.
Step 4: Extension
Readinglistening and feeling(读、听、感受):
Blind people are normal people.
We can learn and work, too.
(盲人是正常人。我们也可以学习和工作。)
Keep your face to the sunshine,
and you can not see the shadow.
(保持你的脸迎向阳光,你就不会看见阴影。)
