第一节
Good morning, everyone! My name is Li Hua. It’s great honor
to talk about my favorite festival here. Celebrated
from 1st to the 15th day of the first month
of the lunar year, Spring Festival is my favorite among all
the Chinese traditional
festivals.
The first reason why I love it most is that I can get lucky
money on that festival. It is the Chinese custom that the old will
give children lucky money on Spring Festival to wish a good luck to
them. Moreover, people everywhere on those days are happy.
Meanwhile, my mother will make a big meal for us to celebrate. We
will forget the unhappy things we meet; instead, we will appreciate
life and wish a better future.
Thank you!
第二节
I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy.
“Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough
money for the doll?” He said, “OK, I hope I do have enough.”
I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we
started to count it. After that, the little boy surprisingly found
that there was enough for the doll and even some spare
money. The little boy smiled with relief and was overwhelmed by a
feeling of gratitude.
Two days later, I read about an accident in the newspaper. A
drunk man in a truck hit a car driven by a young woman with a
little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother
was left in a critical state and died yesterday. After reading, I
couldn’t stop myself, bought a bunch of white roses and went
to see the little boy. The love that the little boy had for his
mother and his sister is hard to imagine. How I wish everybody can
respect life, obey rules, and never make the mistakes which cost
others something that can never be replaced.

W: Hey, I was told you went to Australia last week. I like
its weather very much. And the people there are very
friendly.
M: Yes. It’s a nice place. It’s well worth going to. I enjoy
the beautiful beaches.

a car in that rush-hour traffic is terrible.
M: But by the time the bus gets to my stop, there aren’t any
seats left.
Text 3
M: I wonder if I can read the book this weekend if you can
finish it by Friday.
W: But I promised to give it to Jane first.
Text 4
M: Is the air conditioner working?
W: Yeah. Are you hot? I’m quite cold.
M: That’s because you’re right next to the machine. Why don’t
we change places?
W: All right. Let’s change.
Text 5
M: I need to send a message to everyone on the swim
team.
W: I can do it. I have everyone’s email address. What is
it?
M: We’ll train at the country club pool until our pool is
repaired.
Text 6
M: Hi, how do you usually spend your day?
W: Well, I get up around 9:00 in the morning. Then I read the
newspaper for one hour. And I have lunch at about
11:00.
M: When do you go to work?
W: At 4:00 p.m..
M: And when do you get home?
W: I get home pretty late around midnight.
M: So what do you do exactly?
W: I’m a TV reporter. Don’t you recognize me? I do the news

from websites.

W: I’m sorry, but I can’t let you borrow these books. The
computer shows you got an overdue book Art Work out since
last September.
M: But that’s impossible. I’m studying business, not
art.
W: Oh. Are you Richard Smith?
M: Yes. My full name is Richard James Smith, but I usually go
by Richard Smith.
W: I see now. There’s another Richard Smith in the
class...Richard El Smith. And it looks like he’s the one who got
the overdue book.
M: Another Richard Smith? No kidding.
W: So I guess you two never met.
M: No, but I think I should probably try. I could at least
warn him what’s just happened.
W: Good idea. And I suggest you start using your middle name
to avoid any problem like this in the future.
Text 8
M: This is so annoying!
W: What’s the matter?
M: I’ve bought a new camera and I don’t know how to use
it.
W: Didn’t it come with an instruction book?
M: But I’m not good at reading. I guess I must be
stupid.
W: No. You’re someone who learns best by doing. Why don’t you
just think about what kind of pictures you want to take and just go
ahead?
M: But I don’t know what all the settings are for. I’ll end
up taking bad pictures.
W: I think there’s another way to look at it. Just try all
the settings of the camera until you find what you like. If you
Don’t like the results you can always remove the
photos.
Text 9
M: Can you tell me something about your first
job?
W: Sure. When I was about 18, I started a new job in the
kitchen of a restaurant.
M: Did you like it?
W: Yeah. I liked cooking, so I was really pleased to have
this job. In fact, on the first morning, I woke up very early and
went to the restaurant at about 7:30.I just didn’t want to wait any
longer.
M: Wow! That’s crazy!
W: Luckily, the restaurant was open. The cook met me and
showed me what to do. But at about nine o’clock, the cook felt ill
and went home. It was a terrible day.
M: Really?
W: Yeah. I was the only one in the kitchen and the restaurant
was very busy. The waiters came to the kitchen and ordered the food
for the customers and I made it. Twice I made a mistake and the
customers got the wrong food. But the customers ate the food and
then came to the kitchen to say the food was really delicious. And
the waiters got a big tip.
