It seems that we have long underestimated the power of colors—we tend to see them only as something to beautify our wardrobes(衣橱)or decorate our homes with. But colors are far more powerful than that. “Trends in color reflect the times. Looking back over history, color silently conveyed what was taking place at that moment,” Laurie Pressman, the vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, told fashion website Who What Wear. “You cannot separate society and color.”
With this in mind, it might be easier for you to see the point of this springs trending colors. For starters, Living Coral is definitely a thing. Having been named Pantones 2019 Color of the Year, this half-pink-half-orange color is a reminder of the global issue of climate change and dying corals. Also, this season sees two more natural shades becoming popular—Pepper Stem Green and Clearwater Blue. Both shades, like Living Coral, have environmental connotations(含义). As fashion reporter Maya Adivi wrote on Glowsly, Pepper Stem Green “indicates health, and reminds us of renewal”, and Clearwater Blue gives out “a sense of cheerful calm”.
However, “natural” is not the only color trend this spring, because simply being “reminded” of the issue is far from enough the courage and resolution we need to make real changes. This is why fashion weeks from all over the world saw bolder(更大胆的)and bolder colors worn on the catwalk, giving out the “I can do this; lets make a change” attitude, wrote fashion reporter Lucia Tonelli on the website Elle Decor.
