Chaka Salt Lake（茶卡盐湖，chá kǎ yán hú）is located near Chaka Town in
Wulan County in the east of the Qaidam Basin of Northwest China's
Qinghai Province.
Silhouetted by the azure sky and floating clouds as well as
mountains in the distance, the la
ke is regarded as 'the mirror of the sky' in China.
It is included in 'the 55 places you must go in your lifetime' list
by China's National Geographic magazine.
There is a long railway track extending to the center of the lake.
Visitors can walk along the track to view the splendid scenery on
the water.
The lake's surface area is greatly affected by the seasons. It may
reach up to 40 square miles during the rainy seasons and reduce in
size during the dry seasons.
There are many giant sculptures scattered along the lakeside.
Tourists are attracted by its splendid beauty.
The best time to visit the salt lake is the period from July to
August.
