i'm applying for acceptance infor your graduate program for a
physician’s degree in statistics. I plan to commencemy studies
within the fall of one998. Nature is filled with mysteries,
certainly one of which appears to be its appahirereadiness to
evolve with mathematical principles. Such mysteries have fascinated
me since my childhood, prompting me to avidly read scientific
writings by Hua Lougeng, China’s maximumcelebrated mathematician
within the modern era, even at the same time asi used t
o be still in basicschool. Uncapable of fully perceiveHua’s books
as I should were, I learned that mathematics wbecause itself
wrapped with mysteries.
My intense interest, coupled with my exertions, in mathematics
paid off. During my third year in senior middle school, I tokpart
within the National Mathematics Contest for college childrenin
secondary education, and succeeded in winning the 10th spot in a
lineup of a few 2 hundred thousand chooseed participants. It was at
the moment that i determined to pursue a career in mathematics. In
1985, I entered into the East China popularUniversity to major in
mathematics. the necessary courses ware concentrated mainly in two
areas: statistics and alertness technologies. there have been
alsuch a lot of elective courses. along with courses of statistics
and arithmetic, I spent a large number of time and attemptlearning
such practical skills as pcprogramming and the appliance of a few
new software systems in statistics. After graduation in 1990, I
taught statistics for 4years at another university until i
determined that i wished to meet my curiosity extraand learn more.
In 1994, I joined a graduate program on the Beijing Polytechnic
University, where I concentrated my studies within the area of
man-made intelligence.
Never a bookworm, I presided over a sampling survey of the center
schools in Shanghai, and published my findings within the ECNU
journal. the subject for my graduation paper, the factorof slow
server, was actually culled from a piece of writing published in
pursuing more complexstudies in a technologically more
complexcoundo this type ofs the U.S.. These journals provided me
the required quality and quantityof reference fabricst stayme

Second, the market research that i'm now interested in is pushing
me to master newer and uppermethodologies, i think that graduate
studies together with your department is among one of the simplest
wayss for me to score both purposes.
i'm convinced thon the instructional foundation i've laid in both
theoretical frameworks and practical skills can assistanceme make a
reliable student in my proposed studies. i'm in search ofward to
the day once I shall return to China with a physician’s degree to
make more contributidirectly to the developmentof the science of
statistics on this country.
