The Ant and the Grasshopper
这是个经典的寓言故事,蚂蚁和蚱蜢的故事。
从封面和封底就可以看到Ant 和
Grasshopper这两个小动物明显的不一样,春天过去,夏天到了,蚂蚁一直在拼命地工作,努力地拖着麦子。而蚱蜢却一脸轻松,欢快地唱着歌儿……那么冬天到了,他们会怎样过冬呢?这时可以激发小朋友的兴趣继续读下去
第一页就是小蚱蜢站在麦子上唱歌,一脸的惬意。
It was a glorious summer's day. Grasshopper chirruped and sang
sunny songs.
这是个阳光明媚的夏日,蚱蜢在吱吱喳喳地唱着太阳之歌。

Ant was too busy to sing. He huffed, and he puffed, and he groaned
as he hauled food away to his winter store.
Grasshoper smiled and lay back on a leaf, drowsy and dozing in the
Sun.
但是蚂蚁忙呀忙,根本没时间唱歌。 他气鼓鼓地,不停呻吟因为他要把食物拖到过冬的仓库。
蚱蜢笑眯眯地躺在叶子上,懒洋洋地享受着阳光,他快要睡着了!

After a while, he called out to Ant, 'You're working too
hard!'
'I have to,' Ant replied. 'There's so much to do.'

“我必须要努力,因为有太多的活了!”蚂蚁回答。
“I must collect all this food for the winter ”蚂蚁说我要收集这些食物过冬。
“But winter is ages away.”Said Grasshopper. 'Enjoy the sunshine
with me while you can!' 蚱蜢说“冬天离我们还很远呢,赶紧跟我一起来享受这温暖的阳光吧!”
“Winter may seem ages away,”Ant replied, 'but it will come all too
swiftly' “冬天看起来好像还很远,”蚂蚁说,“但他很快就到了。”“If you don't work now... why,
when the Sun has long gone and the Earth is sleeping, you will be
cold and hungry.”'如果你现在还不开始工作,那么当太阳离去,大地睡觉时,你就会感到又饿又冻。'
Tucked up snug in his little home. Ant looked at his food store and
similed.
He had boxes galore, plenty to keep him fed until the spring buds
blossomed.
蚂蚁舒舒服服地钻进他的小房子里,看着他储藏的食物他笑了,因为这一箱箱的食物已经足够他过冬和等待明年春天万物生长的到来。

trying to shelter behind a leaf.
But the wind blew through his trembling body, however tightly he
curled. His tummy ached with hunger.
屋外,在呼呼的狂风里,蚱蜢紧紧地蜷缩着,他试着躲在一片叶子后面。
但是大风不停地穿过叶子吹着他发抖的身子,尽管他使劲地卷起全身,但他还是由于饥饿而一阵阵肚痛。

Ant poked his head outside his door.”
'Grasshopper! You look frozen!' he cried, 'Come inside and get
warm.'
蚂蚁从门缝里探出头来,看到蚱蜢,他喊道“蚱蜢!你都冻僵了。快进来取取暖吧!
