这套3CD专辑是中国戏剧表演艺术家、黄梅戏一代宗师严凤英的演唱精华辑。
严凤英（1930—1968），中国著名戏剧表演艺术家，安徽省桐城人。12岁学艺，15岁登台，20岁蜚声四海，38岁不幸逝世。严凤英人品清正，艺德高尚，她唱腔圆润明快、表演质朴细腻。在短暂的一生中，她以诚实、热忱、执着、勤奋与严谨的艺术追求和创造，在舞曲和银幕上极为成功地塑造了一个个令世人难忘的艺术形象。她吸收京剧、越剧、评剧、评弹、民歌等之长，融会贯通，自成一家，世称严派，为黄梅戏艺术表演一的发展升华和艺术品味的确立提高以及中国戏剧文化事业做出了卓越贡献。代表剧目有《天仙配》、《打猪草》、《女附马》、《牛郎织女》、《蓝桥会》、《柳树井》、《党的女儿》、《江姐》等58部大小剧目，被公誉为“黄梅戏一代宗师”。
