Because I could not stop for Death (712) 因我无法为死神停留（712）
Because I could not stop for Death – 因为我无法为死神停留--
He kindly stopped for me – 故而他好心为我停留--
The Carriage held but just Ourselves – 马车停住，但只有我们自
己--
And Immortality. 和不朽在上边。

We slowly drove – He knew no haste 我们缓慢行进—他生性不知急赶
And I had put away 而我为了他的彬彬有礼起见
My labor and my leisure too, 已把自己的劳作与休闲
For His Civility – 存管。

We passed the School, where Children strove 我们途经学校，孩子们在休息期间
At Recess – in the Ring – 疯玩—绕圈转
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain – 我们经过翻着金浪的谷田
We passed the Setting Sun – 我们经过西下的金銮。

Or rather – He passed us – 抑或是—他经过我们--
