The Wending
Hill
有卷者阿，
The wending
hill’s a nice
scene.
飘风自南。
Will come the south whirl
zing.
岂弟君子，
The amiable
king
来游来歌，
Is to ramble and sing.
以矢其音。
Hymns his men will
bring.
伴奂尔游矣，
Nice view, warm
breeze
优游尔休矣。
He’ll ramble with
ease.
岂弟君子，
Amiable king.
Jeeze!
俾尔弥尔性，
May you fulfill the
careers
似先公酋矣。
Of your
forebears.
尔土宇昄章，
Vast are your
territories
亦孔之厚矣。
Within the four
seas.
岂弟君子，
Amiable king.
Jeeze!
俾尔弥尔性，
May you fulfill your
deed
百神尔主矣。
Spirits’ hest may you
heed!
尔受命长矣，
God has always blessed
thee
茀禄尔康矣。
With peace deep as the
sea.
岂弟君子，
Amiable is the
majesty.
俾尔弥尔性，
May you fulfill your
years
纯嘏尔常矣。
Be merry in ever
cheers.
有冯有翼，
Hinds and wings have
you.
有孝有德，
They’re
filial men of virtue
以引以翼。
Dedicated as your
wings.
岂弟君子，
O, the happiest of the
kings
四方为则。
All take
you as a pattern true.
颙颙卬卬，
The officers are full of
dignity
如圭如璋，
Like jade-maces in its
purity
令闻令望。
Spread afar their
morality
岂弟君子，
O, the happy
majesty
四方为纲。
The world’s popularity.
凤凰于飞，
The Phoenix flies in the
sky.
翙翙其羽，
With myriad of others near
by.
亦集爰止。
They rest with him on the
tree
蔼蔼王多吉士，
Wise men surround
thee
维君子使，
At your service with
skill
媚于天子。
Daring not to defy
God’ will.
凤凰于飞，
The Phoenix flies in the
sky
翙翙其羽，
With myriad of others
nearby.
亦傅于天。
They soar up into the
skies
蔼蔼王多吉人，
You’re surrounded
by men wise
维君子命，
At your service are your
men
媚于庶人。
Devoted to your
gen.
凤凰鸣矣，
Phoenix call is a lucky
sign.
于彼高冈。
