《学徒》:我的学徒笔记(第一季)

《学徒》指的是美国NBC热播的商战真人秀《The
Apprentice》,又译《飞黄腾达》,由美国纽约知名房地产巨人 Donald Trump
策划并出演。其构思是,Trump从全国几十万(到第二季已过百万)挑选十六位最TOP的人,分成两组进行比赛。他每周给出一个商业任务交由两队去完成,并从失败的队中解雇一个人,最后胜出着成为Trump的学徒。如果想了解美国人的商业心理与游戏规则,怎么与之在商业上打交道等等,《学徒》绝对是部好教材。此剧还有一个看点就是Trump在每集都会提出一个经商成功之道,以下是第一季每集一个Topic。
E01 “Location, location, location.”
I’ve always felt location is important, but the people behind the
deal are much more important than location. I’d much rather have a
really smart, talented guy doing a deal in a not-so-good location
than an idiot doing a deal in a great location. Because you’ll make
money every time.
我一直都觉得地点很重要,但是我认为从事销售的人更为重要。我宁愿拥有一个非常聪明非常有才能的人,在不优越的地点做买卖,也比傻瓜在好地段做买卖好。因为这个聪
明的人能让你一直赚钱。
E02 “Don’t Negotiate with Underlings.”
Making deals can be tough. I learned at a young age that you have
to deal with the boss. It’s very simple. Deal with the boss
wherever possible.
处理人际关系很重要。我年轻的时候就认识到,必须处理好与领导的关系。这很简单,只要任何时候都记住它。
E03 “The Art of the Deal”
Negotiation is a very, very delicate art. Sometimes you have to be
tough. Sometimes you have to be as sweet as pie. You never know. It
depends on who you’re dealing with. I’ve always said that
negotiation is not really learned. It’s almost innate. It’s in the
genes. A negotiator is born.
谈判是一门非常非常微妙的艺术。有时你必须强硬,有时你必须要甜言蜜语。对不同的人采取不同的应对措施。我总是说,谈判能力实际上不是学来的,这几乎是天生的,只凭着基因,一名谈判手就诞生了。
E04 “A Deal’s a Deal”
Once you make a deal with someone, it’s really important to carry
it through. You start developing the wrong reputation, it makes it
impossible to make future deals. Once you shake hands, that should
be it.
你一旦与某人做生意,就一定要坚持到底。开始时给别人的坏印象,会使你将来的交易失败。你与别人握手,就要像那么回事。
E05 “Stand Up For Yourself”
You’ve always got to stand up for yourself. You just have to fight
for yourself, because basically nobody else is going to fight for
you.
你要为自己辩护,你要为自己争取,因为别人不会为你争取的。
E06 “Know What You’re Up Against”
Negotiation is a very, very delicate art. The big thing in
negotiation is to try and figure out your opponent. Otherwise,
you’re going to look like an idiot and lose big.
谈判是很微妙的艺术。最重要的是知己知彼,否则就会在人面前出丑,一败涂地。
E07 “God is in the Details”
Many times, you hear the expression that “God is in the details. ”
When people come in to buy something, especially Very rich people,
they see details. If something’s wrong, they see it, and it
reflects in the price.
很多时候你会听过这样的一句话,上帝就在细节里。当人们需要买一样东西,尤其是有钱人,他们会看它的细节,如果有不妥的地方,他们便会发现,而且这会影响到最后的价钱。
E08 “Beggars Can’t Be Choosers”
Never beg when you’re trying to sell something. lf it doesn’t work
out, take your lumps and relax. But you’ll never sell through the
begging route.
在你想卖东西时,千万不要乞求别人。即使做不成生意,也得冷静下来。你永远不可能用乞求去卖东西。
E09 “You’re Gotta Believe”
You’ve got to believe in what you’re selling. If you don’t believe
it. If you don’t really believe it yourself, it’ll never work.
It’ll never sell, and you’re gonna be miserable.
你们得相信你们卖的东西。如果你们不相信所卖的东西,如果你们不相信自己,那就永远不会成功。东西就永远卖不出去,你就会很痛苦。
E10 “Think Outside The Box”
Thinking outside of the box is something that is very much of a
cliché. But if you really want to be successful, that does how
you’re gonna have to do it. People love the beauty of the building,
and they love the location of the building. And I think they like
Trump.
我觉得在开始动工之前,我们得对这个要出租的建筑物有明确的主意。从不同的角度观察已经是老调常谈了,但是如果你真的想成功,这就是你必须做的。人们喜欢建筑物的外表和地点,我想他们也喜欢Trump。
E11 “A Look Back (1)”
这集是对前10集的回顾,没有任务。
E12 “It’s Easier To Think Big”
It’s always been easier for me to think big. It was always easier
for me to attract the money and the capital than it would be if I
did a small job someplace that nobody cared about and nobody wanted
to finance.
对我来说是很容易把事情想大。我觉得去赚更多的前和资本却比较容易,就像我如果做了一个小的工程,那就没人会在乎,没人会想去投资,去负担费用。
E13 “Passion”
You cannot be successful without passion. If you don’t love what
you’re doing, if you don’t have passion for it, forget it. Do
something else. You’ll be much more successful, and you’ll lead a
lot happier life.
没有激情,不能成功。如果你们不喜欢你们做的,如果你们没有激情,就忘了它吧。去做其他的事情,你将会更成功,更快乐。
E14 “Dog Does Not Eat Dog”
The greatest thing that can happen to a businessman or woman is to
surround yourself with talented people who also happen to be loyal.
You never know what makes a loyal person. And guess what? If
they’re not loyal to you one time, don’t give them a second chance,
because they won’t be loyal to you the next time.
发生在商人和女人身上的最理想的事,就是有才能的人围绕着他们,并且那些有才能的人碰巧对他们是忠诚的。你从来都不知道是什么造就了忠诚的人。你该怎么办?如果他们有一次对你不忠诚,那么不要给他们第二次机会,因为他们根本不会在下次对你忠诚。
