I. Pre-listening
1. Give students

W: I think this skirt looks really fashionable. It fits me well,
and the price isn’t too expensive. And red is my favorite color.
What do you think?
M: I think you’d be a fool not to get it! (1)

W: I think we have plenty of stuff for lunches and dinners in the
refrigerator, but we do need some milk, eggs, butter, and sugar to
make Dylan’s birthday cake.

W: That movie was totally ridiculous. I mean, nothing about it was
realistic. It made no sense at all.
M: I think you’re taking everything a bit too seriously. It was
just an action movie. I thought it was interesting and

M: French food is very rich, and Italian food is simple and fresh.
Chinese food is quite complex.
W: I think Chinese food is my favorite. It’s what my grandmother
used to cook for me when I was a little girl. (8)

M: I’ve been working like a dog for the last six months. And you’ve
been taking care of both our kids and your parents. There’s no way
that we’re not going to Hawaii for vacation this year.

international community doesn’t know how to protect the children
there.

some more time at home going over what we’ve learned in class. He
should have no problems passing his exams. You have nothing to
worry about.

W: Hey, thanks for ordering from Domino’s Pizza! Here’s your pizza
and salad. The total comes to $24, including tax.
M: Awesome! That was super-fast. (12) I wasn’t expecting you here
for another fifteen minutes. Here’s thirty bucks. Keep the
change.

M: I had a terrible headache this morning, but after I drank some
water, I felt a little bit better. Even though I’m sort of tired
now, it’s normal for a Friday. (13)
W: You should try to relax more, you know...

W: My brother Ricky was angry at Angela for being so loud in class,
(14) but I felt sorry for her. She broke her leg on her way to
school, and she was in a lot of pain.
M: Yeah, Mr. Tisdale told me.

M: I think you should eat less bread and rice if you want to lose
weight. And most of your diet should be vegetables. You’ll burn off
a lot of fat that way.
