1881年起源于法国的Cabaret指的是酒馆音乐会,我们熟知的《Moulin
Rouge》(红磨坊)是其中一个剧本。

情节梗概:纳粹统治德国前后,柏林某歌舞厅里的英国女郎Sally对刚从美国到柏林的英语老师Cliff产生好感,两人狂讲英语,不久她前脚被同居了十天的男友踢出,后脚就拎着箱子进了Cliff的公寓门。刚开始,男主角因故有心理障碍,女主角也在追求自由的同时,为是否用身体换取名利还是忠于爱情而犹豫。他们还跟一位富有的双性恋者发生关联……
生活如秀,总是要继续:Show must go on.
同住公寓楼还有一个生活富裕又有教育背景的犹太籍女人,她整天通过跟“表哥”、“侄子”、“朋友”做爱来自虐,进而麻痹自己……
而房东老太太因与之产生恋情的房客是犹太人,最终违心退回了别人送他们的订婚礼……
富有的双性恋者因战争而离去。歌舞厅女郎Sally怀孕后,英语老师Cliff曾一度应允要照顾“不知道孩子的父亲是谁”的女主角。而最终,他决定转道巴黎坐船返回美国。
He

then mentions how much she
hates “that greedy
doctor”:She
has had an abortion. Cliff
slaps her. Sally, devastated,
says that she had hoped
their relationship wouldn't end
like this, because it is
the first time she has
really cared about anyone. Cliff
says that he is leaving
for Paris in the morning,
still hoping that she will
join him. But Sally says
that she's “always hated
Paris.”Cliff leaves,
heartbroken…… 百老汇音乐剧《Cabaret》的舞台上有三扇门,演示通往客房和歌舞厅等。演员在换景、暗灯、浮华艳俗的滑稽歌舞和串歌声中,表现了那个时代的人个人爱情、事业奋斗和情欲情迷的生活状态…… 演员因剧情所需,要讲德国式的英文,一开始,我就被“what”的发音搞得没了方向。
The next
scene switches to Cliff on
the train to Paris. He
begins to write his novel,
reflecting on his experiences:“There
was a city called Berlin,
in a country called Germany.
There was a cabaret, and
there was a master of
ceremonies. It was the end
of the world,
and I was dancing with
Sally Bowles and we were
both fast asleep.”He then begins

当晚统一票价$56.90/人。剧场环绕舞台摆放着桌子和沙发围座(booth),昏黄色的小灯盏盏闪烁(今日第2张),管弦乐队在舞台前帷幕里。 这部音乐剧于1966年11月26日在Broadhurst
Theatre首度公演,出演1165场;1987年10月22日,再度重组剧团后演出至今261场,可谓美国之经典音乐剧。
