一．含“tea”一词的英语习语
关于饮茶之起源，人们众说纷纭，莫衷一是。然而，茶(tea)原产于中国南方山区、丘陵地带这一点是毋容置疑的。1660年9月25日，英国作家Samuel Pepys(塞缪尔·佩皮斯)在其日记里记载了自己在工作时有人送来一杯茶的情形，“他真的送来了一杯茶(一种中国饮料)，一种我从没喝过的饮料。”
1.one’s cup of tea：在英国人还没有完全形成饮茶习俗之前，他们主要流行喝啤酒和葡萄酒，因而one’s cup of beer/wine之说自然产生，它表达“恰合口味；正中下怀；钟爱的事物”等意思。因为后来英国国民生活日趋受到中国茶及其茶俗的影响，one’s cup of tea便逐步取代了one’s cup of beer/wine，意思仍然不变。例如：
Playing football isn’t Jack’s cup of tea. Let’s do basketball instead！
