《夜雨寄北》

巴山夜雨涨秋池。
何当共剪西窗烛，

When to return thou ask me is still unknown,
As water’s brimming the autumn pond up-flown.
When to prune wicks again with thee is yearning,
As we meet on the rainy night convening.
Notes:
1. Li Shangyin (812-858) was a renowned poet in late Tang Dynasty.
2. This poem written in 848 naturally shows the poet's missing of his wife in the Chang’an during his journey in the regions of Bashu (now inSichuanprovince), although the lyrics are provincial and simple.
