Youth is a state of mind
Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years .We grow old by deserthing our ideals.

Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul .Worry fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spring back to dust.
whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing childlike appetite of what's next and the jou of the game of living. In the ceter of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men adn from the infinite, so long are you young.
when the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at 20,but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at 80.

Help Others,Help Yourself
励志英语读物一---Youth is a state of mind(青春是一种心态)Have you ever had a day ,when everything seemed to go wrong, and nothing seemed to go right? Not too long ago ,I was having one of those days. I was discouraged, weary, and plain sad. My focus was on me , me,me. After all, no one else was esperiencing the same trials as I was.
I expressed my downcast state to my mother, hoping for some pity. instead, she said,'I heard Lily was having a difficult day too. Why don't you make her some cookies and we'll take them to her this afterroom?' I didn't really want to, but decided that Ididn't want to go back to my other problems just yet. I made the cookies and arranged them on a little plate. Then I made a card with a wunflower on it and wrote a small note of empathy.
That afternoon we droped by my friend's house. i went to the door and rang the bell. Soon, Lily came to the door and looked at me in surprise for the unexpected visit. Before she could say anything I rushed,'I heard you were having a hard day and decided to bring you something. I hope your day goes better.'The look that came over Lily's face was one that I could never put into words. It was as if a darkened shy was wuddenly lit with the golden rays of the sun; it was as if in that small act, her day was brightened.
I got back into the car and for some amazing reason, I felt a lot better myself. That day I experienced the truth that James Barrie attempeted to describe.'Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others, caanot keep it from themselves.'
