What is a loose / periodic / balanced sentence?

1. Loose Sentence(松散句):

The main idea is presented at the beginning and the elements of the sentences are placed in a natural order like this: subject-verb-complement. It puts first things first,and lets the reader know what it is mainly about when he has read the few words.The information is orderly presentation. It is often easier, simpler, more natural and direct.

Eg. My roommate told me to buy a ticket for him when I went to train station yesterday.
He decided to study English though he was was interested in music.
I will go home though the journey is too long.

2. Periodic Sentence (圆周句):

The main idea
is expressed at or near the end of it,and it is not grannatically complete until the end is reached.You can’t understand the writer until you read thoroughly. Such sentence can emphasize the element placed at the beginning. It is more complex, emphatic, formal or literary.

Eg. Having considered both sides of the argument, I have come to the conclusion that the advantages of owning a car outweigh the disadvantages.
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that you may take a horse to the water, but you cannot make him drink.

3. Balanced Sentence (对偶句):

When a sentence contains tow parallel clauses similar in structure but contrasted in meaning,it is balanced sentence. The main ideas are often presented in parallel phrases or clauses.Balanced sentences are impressive beause of the contrast,and pleasing to hear because of the rhythm.They are mainly used in formal writing,like expository and argumentative prose,and speeches.

Eg. The role of a man is to provide, and the role of a woman is to care for the household and family. This is a traditional perspective we were taught in the past.
In Plato’s opinion man was made for philosophy;in Bacon’s opinion philosophy was made for man.
