希腊诗人卡瓦菲斯（C.P.Cavafy）写的诗篇《伊萨卡岛》表达对探索者最崇高的敬意。我的拙劣翻译是：
请把伊萨卡永记在心头。
去那里是你命中的注定。
沿途不必仓惶奔命。
即使花费几年也最好不过，
因为那时登岛你才年老知天命，
旅途上的收获让你富有，
别期待伊萨卡带给你更多的财富。
伊萨卡给你美好的旅途。
没她你绝不会上路。
除此之外她一无所有。
如果你发现她原来如此贫穷，别以为那是伊萨卡在骗你。
旅途的经历已经使你明智，
伊萨卡的意义此时才变得清楚。
原诗如下：
Always keep Ithaca fixed in your mind.
To arrive there is what you are destined for.
But don’t hurry the journey at all.
Better if it lasts for many years,
So you are old by the time you reach the isle,
Wealthy with all you have gained on the way
And not expecting Ithaca to make you rich.
Ithaca gave you the beautiful journey.
Without her you’d never have set out.
But she has nothing more to you now.
And if you find her poor, Ithaca won’t have deceived you.
Wise as you have become, after so much expernece,
You’ll have understood by then what these Ithacas mean.
