When I went to England, I enjoyed my stay. But I noticed so many different traditions.
For example, you usually shake hands with people when you meet for the first time. But after that, you can just say hello. You must say Mr and Mrs when you speak to older people, but you can use first names with your friends.
One day we visited some friends and had tea. Tea is not just a drink but a light meal at around 4:00 in the afternoon. You can’t have tea ─ the meal ─ after 4:30. We ate sandwiches and a large fruit cake. You can only drink tea at a tea party, not coffee or juice. And you must drink tea with milk. You must pour the tea, then the milk ─ you can’t put
the milk in first, then the tea.
In buses and trains, the other passengers are very quiet, and you mustn’t talk too loudly. It’s very different from China! In some trains you can’t even use your mobile phones! And you don’t often hear people shouting in the street.
I was very lucky ─ I even went to a wedding. It was very different from a Chinese wedding. For example, the man and the woman can’t see each other the night before the wedding. Then the woman mustn’t arrive at the church on time but a few minutes late. And at the party after the wedding, the woman throws her flowers over her shoulder. The girl who catches them will be the next to get married! It was all very strange but it was great fun!

Advertisements are an important part of our lives. We are so used to them that we often do not even realize how many we see and hear in a day!
What is an advertisement?
An advertisement provides information and uses creative languages and attractive pictures to encourage people to buy a product or service or believe in an idea. Newspapers, magazines, the Internet, radios and televisions are the most places to find advertisements. There are two main types of advertisements:commercial advertisements and public service advertisements (PSAs). A commercial advertisement is one which someone has paid for to promote a product or service. PSAs are often placed for free, and are used to educate people about health, safety, or any other issue which affects public welfare.
Does an advertisement tell people the complete truth?
China has strong laws to protect people from advertisements that lie or try to make people believe untrue promises about products or services. However, we still must be careful with the methods(方法) used in advertisements to try and sell us things. Even if an ad does not lie, it does not mean it tells you the complete truth. One toothpaste ad says 'Bright-teeth fights bad breath!' The advertisers want you to read the word 'fights' and think that the toothpaste cures bad breath, but it does not say that! All it says is that it fights it and that is not the same thing at all. One supermarket tells buyers, 'You are proud of your cooking, so shouldn't you buy the freshest food?' This one is very clever, because it tells buyers that they are good cooks. However, the ad never says that this supermarket has the freshest food! They just hope that you read the ad, you will feel good about what it says and remember the words 'freshest food' and then buy it in the supermarket. We must not fall for this kind of trick!
Public service advertisements
Not all ads play tricks on us though. PSAs use some of the same methods, but they are made to serve the public. PSAs are meant to teach us and help us lead better lives. You have probably seen or heard some of them yourself, like 'Yes to life, no to drugs' and 'Knowledge changes life'. These ads deal with large social issues. There are also PSAs that educate people about public service projects, such as Project Hope. All of these ads are meant to be helpful, and you can often learn a lot by following the advice they give.
Try to remember: think about why you should do or buy the things the ad suggests. We all want to be smart about what we believe, so be smart about advertisements.

The title: 1
The purpose: to 2 to buy a product or service or believe in an idea
The methods: by 3 creative languages and attractive pictures
Two 4 of ads
One: commercial advertisements which should be 5
The other: public service advertisements, which are placed 6
We should always be 7 tricks!
They play 8 tricks on us. They help us 9 .
Try to be 10 about advertisements!

Answers for reference: 1. Advertisement(s) 2. encourage people 3. using 4. types/kinds 5. paid for 6.for free 7. careful with 8. no 9. learn a lot 10. smart

任务型阅读三, 每空不超过4个单词。
Nearly every parent says that we never grow up. In fact, we are maybe 16 or 17 years old. In their eyes, we are always little ones and always do wrong things. For example, when I need to stay at home alone, they always worry about me and my life without them.
Most parents always think that they have offered the best things they can to make their children live in a comfortable world. They buy their children pretty clothes, cool shoes, expensive school things, and often a thousand-yuan-cost bike. They think that they have done everything that they can for their dear children. In return, they only want their children to get good results in the examinations.
But why their children still can’t understand them? Does it mean that they still want more material things? No. As a matter of fact, what they want is a true family. What does a true family mean? I think it means a place where we can hide ourselves from the cold world outside. From here, we can get warmth, we can get consolation (安慰), and we can get happiness. And one important thing is that we should be stronger and more confident in the outside world because we know that we have a family.
So I think that parents should sit down to talk with their children to let them know that they have a true family, so the children and their parents could understand each other more and more. Then, no children will be regarded as little ones.
