Capital: Trenton
Population: Nearly 9 million people live in New
Jersey.
Geography: Parts of this mid-Atlantic state also are
included in the metropolitan areas of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
and New York City. It is 112 kilometers wide, 273 kilometers long
and encompasses 22,608 square kilometers.
Higher Education: Princeton University tied with
Massachusetts’ Harvard University as the top-ranked university in
the United States in the 2012 rankings published by
U.S. News
& World Report.
Major Industries are pharmaceutical research and
manufacturing, chemical development and publishing but the Garden
