神啊！我的心切慕你，如鹿切慕溪水。 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my
soul pants for you, O God.
本篇是教会在第一世纪逃避尼禄皇帝 (主后37~68)
逼迫时，躲在坟墓地洞中的时候最常诵念的诗。现在在那些洞中还能看到他们所刻的鹿的形象。他们隐藏、掩饰、逃亡及躲避罗马军兵的追捕，那情况就像鹿在森林失火时逃亡一样。鹿被烈火惊吓，急速奔逃，四围的火和快速奔跑的消耗，令它们极其干渴。这时，森林外的溪水就成了它们救命的源泉了。
同样的，身为基督徒，今天我们常面对这世界的许多困难并恶劣的环境。这一切环境，驱使我们向着活水直奔。哪里才能找到活水呢？神已经将一颗渴慕的心给我们了，我们只要在基督里就能胜过这世界的困难与恶劣的环境！ |
然而我更祈求神使我在平淡无奇的生活中依然渴慕祂的同在！
