Topic 3 What should we do to fight SARS? Section C
I. Teaching Aims and Demands:
Language Goals:
1. Review and grasp how to make telephone calls and write messages
2. Learn the usage of Reflexive Pronouns.
3. Learn and grasp some useful Reflexive Pronouns phrases.
Ability Goals:
1. Learn to observe, compare and make a summary.
2. Cultivate the ability of reading and try to get the information you need by some easy skills according to the purpose of reading.
Emotion Goals:
1. Learn to be helpful to others.
2. Learn to study in groups, communicate with others in English and cooperate in groups.
II. Teaching Important Points:
1. Learn the usage of Reflexive Pronouns and the useful expressions of Reflexive Pronouns phrases.
2. Review and learn the following useful expressions:
enjoy oneself, hurt oneself, help oneself to… ,look after oneself, teach oneself, learn sth. by oneself , take an active part in, care for, It’s one’s duty to do sth.
III. Teaching Difficult Points:
1. Help the students make differences between the Reflexive Pronouns, learn to use them correctly and pay attention to the plural forms.
2. Learn to get important information by reading with some skills.
IV. Teaching Methods:
1. Lead in with the help of pictures, slide shows, multimedia and so on.
2. Create an English-speaking environment-------Role play.
3. Project-based cooperative learning methods.
V. Teaching Aids:
Word cards, pictures, a tape recorder, a computer, screen, multimedia.
VI. Teaching procedure:
Step 1 Review
1. Review some new words with cards.
2. Review how to make a telephone call and write the message. Show the Ss a picture of planting trees and the telephone message . Ask them to make a dialogue according to them.

TELEPHONE MESSAGE:
Mary,
Kate _______.
Message: Would you like to _______ _______at 8:00
this Saturday morning? Please call her ______.
Or:
From: Kate To: Mary
TELEPHONE MESSAGE:
Could you ________ ________with her at 8:00 this Saturday
morning? ______her_______, please.




3. Ask two pairs to act the dialogues out and the others finish the message.
Step2 Presentation
1. T: Today we’re going to learn Unit 2 Topic 3 Section C. At first, let’s review and learn Reflexive Pronouns.
(Show the students some slide shows and lead in the usage of Reflexive Pronouns)
T: Could she ride a bike when she was seven years old?
T: Yes, she could.
T: Who taught her? No one taught her. Can you guess?
T and Ss: She taught herself.
(教师板书she -------herself)
T: What’s he doing?
Ss: He’s swimming.
T: Is he enjoying himself?...
(教师板书he-------himself )
T: Look at this cat. Is it enjoying itself?
Ss: Yes, it is. It is enjoying itself.
(教师板书it itself)
T: Look, What did they do?
Ss: They had a birthday party.
T: Did they enjoy themselves?
(教师板书they--------themselves)
T: Excuse me, could you play computer games two years ago?
S2: Yes, I could.
T: Who taught you?
S2: I taught myself.
(教师板书I---------myself )
T: Did you watch TV during the summer holidays?
S3: Yes, I did.
T: Did you enjoy your self?...
(教师板书you -------yourself )
T: Can you brush your teeth?
S4 and S5: Yes, we can.
T: Who taught you?
S4and S5: We taught ourselves.
T: Oh, you learned to brush teeth by yourselves, right?
(教师板书we -------ourselves, you-------yourselves )
T: All these are Reflexive Pronouns, we can call them “oneself”. Read together.
