Your boss has asked you to write to the consultant to explain why he has been replaced.

  3. (B106)Letter to the manager As some members of staff have recently left the company where you are employed, management is investigating the situation. You have been asked to write a letter to the manager concerning how to reduce staff turnover.

    • A brief description of the present situation
    • An analysis of reasons attributable to the situation
    • The harm resulting from frequent staff changes
    • Recommendations for reducing staff turnover.

  4. (B107)Complaint letter A company you already do business with has recently created a new product line. Your department placed an order for the new product but found that the product did not fulfill your requirements and that the after sales service was poor. Your head of department has asked you to write a letter to the company informing them of your dissatisfaction.

    • What the order was for and when it was placed
    • Why you are dissatisfied with both the product and the after sales service.
    • A reminder of business done with them in the past
    • What you expect in response to your complaint
    • Explaining your company’s plan, suggesting a meeting with your company

  5. (B112)Complaint letter for the removal company Your department recently moved to a new building, you are not satisfied with the way the removal company dealt with the move of your furniture and equipment and have decided to write a letter of complaint to the removal company about it.
    Write the letter to the removal company, including the following information:
    • Details of the move and what was moved
    • What was unsatisfactory
    • What you had expected from the company
    • What you expect to happen now

    • A brief outline of the current uses of technology in your department
    • A description of what technological improvements could be made
    • An explanation of the benefits these changes might bring
    • Recommendations for the kind of training that would be necessary

  3. (B113)Proposal for the Managing Director The international organization you work for is considering the possibility of producing a promotional brochure to publicise the company abroad. The Managing Director has asked you to write a contribution for this brochure.
  4. (B115)Recommendation The international organization you work for makes an award every month to a person in each department based on the following criteria:
    • Productivity
    • Relations with customers
    • Contribution to the team
    • Your line manager has asked you to recommend someone from your department for this month’s award.

    Write your recommendation. Stating who the person is and the reasons for your choice. Describe how this person meets each of the three criteria for receiving the award.
