第二十八章 守常
Chapter xxVIII

诗曰
Poems said
明知高踞势雄浑,甘俸爱心守柔顺。
倾身成为天下溪,天下之溪世永存。
恩德与他永恒在,人归婴儿本归真。
知有光明守黑暗,守常堪为天下式。


Knowing that the position of the powerful, generous love to keep obedient.
Lean into the world stream, the world stream forever.
Kindness is with him forever, man belongs to the baby.
Know there is light, keep the darkness, keep often can for the world.

既为人识天之器,永恒恩德志不移。
使人复归无限境,无限境界渺无垠。
知有荣耀守屈辱,守常势为天下谷。
天下虚谷阔无际,永恒恩德满充足。
Both human knowledge of heaven, eternal virtue will not move.
To the infinite, the infinite boundless.
Know that there is glory and humiliation, and keep the trend for the valley of the world.
The world is empty and boundless, and eternal kindness is full and sufficient.

使人复归于本原,本原永存在人间。
本原神应人身上,化成器物万万千。
圣人若是使用他,治理天下掌大权。
如此大智与大慧,浑然为一共存焉。
That man may return to his original, which is eternal on earth.
The original god should be turned into thousands of objects.
If the saints use him, they rule the world and have great power.
Such great wisdom and great wisdom coexist seamlessly.

(1)知其雄,守其雌,为天下溪。(2)为天下溪,常德不离,复归于婴儿。(3)知其白,守其黑,为天下式。(4)为天下式,常德不忒,复归于无极。(5)知其荣,守其辱,为天下谷。(6)为天下谷,常德乃足,复归于朴。(7)朴散则为器,圣人用之,则为官长。(8)故大智不割。
(1) Know its male, keep its female, for the world stream.
(2) For the world stream, Changde does not leave, return to the baby.
(3) Know its white, keep its black, for the world type.
(4) For the world type, Changde not te, return to wuji.
(5)Know its honor, keep its shame, for the world valley.
(6) For the world valley, Changde is enough, return to Park. (7) Pu SAN is the instrument, the sage used, is the official. Therefore, great wisdom does not cut.
译文
The translation

(1)知道其雄伟强壮,却甘守雌爱柔顺,而成为天下的溪流。(2)作为天下的溪流,永恒的恩德与他同在,(使人)复归于纯洁的婴儿。(3)知道其光明所在,却甘守暗昧,而成为世人认识上天的工具。(4)作为世人认识上天的工具,永恒的恩德至诚不移,(使人)复归于无限的境界。(5)知道其荣耀,却甘守羞辱,而成为天下的虚谷。(6)作为天下的虚谷,永恒的恩德充足丰满,(使人)复归于存在的本原。(7)这本原化散在不同的人身上,成为不同的器物。圣人使用他们,而成为掌权者。(8)如此,至大的智慧是浑然为一、不可分割的
(1) Know its majestic and strong, but willing to guard female love gentle, and become the world's stream. As the stream of the world, eternal kindness is with him, restoring him to the purity of infancy.
(3) Knowing where the light lies, yet willing to keep the darkness, and become the instrument of the world's knowledge of Heaven.
(4) As the instrument of man's knowledge of Heaven, eternal kindness is so faithful that it restores him to the infinite.
(5)Knowing its glory, yet willing to guard its shame, and become the hollow valley of the world.
(6) As the empty valley of the world, eternal kindness is abundant, and returns to the essence of existence.
(7) The original dispersed in different people, become different objects. Sages use them to become rulers.
(8)In this way, the Supreme wisdom is one and indivisible.
第二十九章 与世勿争
Chapter 29 Do not Argue with the World


诗曰
Poems said
想用人力取天下,我看目的不可达。
天下本是神之器,不是人力能取拿。
人为努力必失败,人为强持必失他。
世事由来皆如此,占先随后多如麻。
If you want to take over the world by man, I don't think you can achieve it.
The world is an artifact of god, not taken by man.
He who strives will fail, he who holds strong will lose him.
The origin of the world is so, before and after as many as hemp.

输暖吹冷嘘或促强削弱费周旋。
承载传扬千千万,颠覆倾倒万万千。
圣人清心又寡欲,一切强求抛云烟。
摈弃奢侈和骄恣,不恋康泰甘清闲。
Lose warm blow cold hiss or blow, promote strong weaken time.
Carrying tens of millions of spread, subversion dump thousands of thousands.
Saintly heart and desire, all the demands cast clouds and smoke.
Discard luxury and arrogant unbridled, do not love Kang Tai willing to be idle.

(1)将欲取天下而为之,吾见其不得已。(2)天下神器,不可为也。为者败之,执者失之。(3)故物或行或随,或嘘或吹,或强或羸,或载或隳。(4)是以圣人去甚,去奢,去泰。

The translation

(1)想用人为的努力去赢得天下,我看达不到目的。(2)天下是神的器具,不是人为努力就能得著的。人为努力的,必然失败;人为持守的,必然丧失。(3)世间是这样:有占先前行的,就有尾追不舍的;有哈暖气的,就有吹冷风的;有促其强盛的,就有令其衰弱的;有承载的,就有颠覆的。(4)所以圣人摈弃一切强求的、奢侈的和骄恣的东西。
