What’s polite
in Turkey (土耳其) ?
In Turkey, people often kiss when they meet.
When someone invites you to his house, you are supposed to bring
a small gift of some kinds like flowers or candy. But if you bring
flowers, you are supposed to bring an uneven
number(奇数),say seven or nine flowers. Never bring
an even number(偶数) like six or eight. And you
are not supposed to wear your shoes after you come into his
house.
When you leave, you are supposed to say goodbye several times.
The first time may be before you put your coat on. The second time
you might be standing just inside the door. The third time you
might be outside the door. Sometimes people will even walk a little
way outside the house and say goodbye again.
In Turkey, you aren’t supposed to give
snacks to the visitors when they first arrive because it might mean
you wanted them to eat and then leave right away.
