It was a long time ago.
I have almost forgotten my dream.
But it was there then,
In front of me,
Bright like a sun--
My dream.
And then the wall rose,
Rose slowly,
Slowly,
Bet
ween me and my dream.
Rose until it touched the sky--
The wall.
Shadow.
I am black.
I lie down in the shadow.
No longer the light of my dream before me,
Above me.
Only the thick wall.
Only the shadow.
My hands!
My dark hands!
Break through the wall!
Find my dream!
Help me to shatter this darkness,
To smash this night,
To break this shadow
Into a thousand lights of sun,
Into a thousand whirling dreams
Of sun!
很久很久以前。
我已经忘记了我的梦想。
但当时它就在我的面前，
像太阳一样明亮---
我的梦想。
然后升起一堵墙，
慢慢地，升起，
慢慢地，
把我和梦想隔离。
直升到碰到天空---
墙壁。
阴影。
我是黑人。
我躺在影中。
不久我的梦想之光来我前，
在我上方。
只有厚墙。
只有阴影。
我的双手！
我黑色的双手！
打碎这堵墙！
找到我的梦想！
帮我驱散黑暗，
粉碎黑夜。
打破阴影变成千万道阳光，
变成千万个旋转的梦想---
太阳！
