Tool,device,equipment,apparatus,instrument 五词的区别

Tool 即 “ 工具 ” ， 指 最 为 简 单 的 一 类 ， 用 于 手 工技 艺方 面 ， 例 如 ：
These are carpenter's tools.
这 些 是 木 匠的 工 具 。
Device 即 “ 器械 ” ， 或 “ 装 置 ” ， 一 般 来 说 很 精 巧 ， 而又 非 大 型 机器 ， 例 如 ：
The adoption of this new device will greatly cut down the percentage of defective products.
采 用 此 种 新装 置 ， 可 大 幅 降 低 废 品 率 。

Equipment 即 “装 备 ” ， 或 “ 设 备 ” ， 例 如 ：
The equipment in our laboratory is quite sufficient for ordinary experiments.
本 实 验 室 的设 备 足 够 供 普 通 实 验 之 用 。


Apparatus 即 “成 套 工 具 ” ， 或 “ 仪 器 ” ， 例 如 ：
Scientific apparatuses are sometimes imported and sometimes made in our own country.
科 学 仪 器 间或 由 外 国 入 口 ， 间 或 由 本 国 自 制 。

Instrument 即 “仪 器 ” ， 或 “ 器 械 ” ， 或 “ 工 具 ” ， 多 半用 于 科 学 、医 学 或 音 乐 等 方 面 ， 例 如 ：
He accompanied her singing on a lutelike instrument.
他 弹 一 件 琵琶 似 的 乐 器 ， 为 她 伴 奏 。 （ 陆 谷 孙 《 英 汉大 词 典》 ）
补充instruments,还和金融有点关系，例如financial instruments译为金融工具。
