电影故事：

根据里昂尤里斯的同名小说改编。
小说根据1947年9月的真实故事改编。
一艘艘载着从德国集中营里解放出来的犹太难民船，频繁地驶向巴勒斯坦。但由于居住在英国托管的巴勒斯坦的阿拉伯人拒绝接受大批犹太移民，英国托管当局严格控制入境，致使几万犹太难民被迫在塞浦路斯岛屿登陆，滞留在拥挤不堪的难民营里。
英国当局一方面扩建犹太难民营，另一方面将部分难民遣返德国。这时，联合国安理会正就巴勒斯坦和以色列建国问题进行表决，犹太复国主义激进组织哈加纳就计划了一次冒险的偷渡，以便对英国人施压，营造对以色列建国有利的国际形势。

《出埃及记》源自《圣经》，以色列人摩西受上帝指引带领被压迫的以色列百姓逃离埃及去往圣地巴勒斯坦的故事。
