Chinese grammar--The difference between 全and 都

（副词）表示总括。
( adverb ) meaning totally.
“全”、“都”在意义上和结构上有差别。
The differences of “全” and “都” in meaning and structure.

1、 “全”侧重指所总括的范围内无一例外，有“全部”、“完全”的意思；“都”则侧重总括范围内的每一个。所以，表示“全部”、“完全”的意思时，要用“全”。例如：
“全” means whole, entire, or total without exc
eption. “都” emphasizes each one of the whole. Thus, “全” is used to express the meaning “wholly” or “completely”.. For example:
这时，天全黑了，路上一个行人也没有。
我能找到失散多年的兄弟，全靠他帮忙。
这条鲫鱼全变红了。

2、 “都”侧重表示总括范围内的每一个，所以它总括的人或事物一般不能是单数，应该是复数。尤其句中总括的内容是由表示任指意义（任意的一个）的词语来担当时，要用“都”。例如：
“都” emphasizes every one of the whole, so the people or things it includes should be plural, not singular. “都” is used particularly when the content of the total is expressed by the word signifying any one of the whole. For example:
谁都不同意他的这个建议。
每个周末我们都到这里举行一个小型晚会。

3、作为副词，“都”还有表示强调的“甚至”的意思，“全”没有这种意思。例如：
As an adverb, “都” can also express the emphatic meaning “even”, but “全” can’t. For example:
整个卷子，她连一个字都没错。
连我的好朋友都不支持我。
