Chinese grammar--The difference between 下来and 下去

（趋向动词）
一、“下来”、“下去”都可以用在动词后表示动作趋向，但方向不同。“下来”表示向下靠近说话人；“下去”表示向下并离开说话人。例如：
Both “下来”and “下去” can be used after verbs, but indicate different directions of the actions. “下来” means the trend of an action moving downward and approaching the speaker. “下去
pan >” means the trend of an action moving downward and leaving the speaker. For example:
小溪是从山腰流下来的。（说话人在山下）
泉水从这儿流下去，汇入河中。（说话人在高处的泉水处。）
他走上台来，接过鲜花，……又慢慢走下台区。（说话人在台上。）

二、“下来”、“下去”都可以用在动词后表示动作继续，但是，“下来”主要表示从过去继续到现在；“下去”主要表示从现在往后继续。例如：
Both “下来” and “下去” can be used after verbs to indicate the continuation of the action. “下来” means an action lasting from the past till now. “下去” means an action lasting from now till later. For example:
她终于坚持下来了。（从以前开始坚持，到现在完成。）
你一定要坚持下去，不能半途而废。（继续往后坚持。）
这个宝贝是祖上传下来的。（从祖上传到后代。）

三、因为“下去”表示从现在往后继续的意义，所以动词前常常可以使用“接着”、“再”、“又”一类词。“下来”表示从过去延续到现在的意思，所以一般不跟这些词结合。例如：
As “下去” indicates an act lasting from now till later, there are always such words as “接着”,”再”,”又”, etc. in front of the verb. “下来” indicates an act lasting form the past till now, so it is not used together with such words. For example:
他看了我一眼，又接着说了下去。
你再这样干下去，身体就会垮掉。
