如果到德国北部古城吕贝克（Luebeck）游览，一定会对风格独特的霍尔斯滕城门（Holstentor）惊叹不已，这座雄伟的晚期哥特式建筑是吕贝克城市的标志。霍尔斯滕城门建于公元1464年至1478年间，当时为城市主要的防御工事，是目前吕贝克唯一保存完好的城门。整座城门共四层，拥有一个拱顶门洞和两个尖顶塔楼，两座塔楼与中间建筑连为一体。面向城市一侧如同完整的城堡建筑，中间山墙装饰三个小型尖塔，面向原野一侧则呈现明显的三个部分，双塔中间建有阶梯三角墙。吕贝克曾是汉萨同盟（Hanse）的首都，城门外侧墙上镶有一排拉丁文金字， “对内和谐，对外和平” （Concordia Domi Foris Pax），这句铭文也是当时汉萨同盟的口号。自1950年以来，吕贝克城市历史博物馆一直设立在霍尔斯滕城门城楼内，1987年吕贝克老城被列入世界文化遗产名录。
