1 There is的结构用来说明人或物的存在，在汉语中可以译为“有”。这个结构要跟单数名词，句中往往要有一个介词短语来表示位置或地点。
2 on the right (left)，在右边（左边），是介词短语，在本句中作表语。
3 注意不要把cooker和cook混淆，cooker是炉子、锅等炊具，不是“炊事员”。炊事员在英语中是cook。
4 in the middle of, 在……之间。

1. Mrs. Smith’s 是名词所有格，表示“史密斯太太的….”
There is a refrigerator in the kitchen. 在厨房里有一个冰箱。
不定冠词“a”具有不确定的义意，第一次提到冰箱，对听者来说根本不知道哪个冰箱，反正在厨房里有一个冰箱。“a”是一个不定冠词，表示泛指。
The refrigerator is white. 冰箱是白色的。
--refrigerator 之前用的是定冠词the,因为是第二次提到的，那么这是不在是泛指，表示特指，因此要用定冠词the.
--the通常有明确的所指，即对方和自己都知道所指的人或物，the的后面可以加可数名词单数或复数，也可以加不可数名词。
2. There is an electric cooker in the kitchen. 厨房里有一个电灶。
--an electric cooker 听者不知道它是指哪一个电灶，它只是泛指电灶中的某一个，所以用不定冠词an; electric是以元音音素开头的单词，前面的不定冠词要用“an”，不能用“a”.
