阅读理解
1. Did the young man speak English?
Yes, he was English himself.

1. amusing adj. 好笑的，有趣的（同义词funny，interesting）
派生：amused adj.

翻译：这个表演使我们很开心。

2. experience n. 经历
判断下列句子中experience的含义

词组：ask for / thumb a lift 要求搭便车

1. I had an amusing experience last year. After I had left a small village in the south of France, I drove on to the next town.
l 时态：过去完成时，表示过去某时或某动作发生之前已经完成的动作或情况。（详见重点语法）
l 副词on紧跟在动词后面时表示继续地，不停顿地
文化： 《泰坦尼克号》主题曲《我心永恒》 My heart will go on and on and on and on, and on.

2. On the way, a young man waved to me. I stopped and he asked me for a lift.
l 词组：on the way 在途中

3. As soon as he had got into the car, I said good morning to him in French and he replied in the same language.
l 结构：as soon as通常表示一……就……，即两个动词之间相隔时间非常短
翻译：我一到火车站，车就开走了。
As soon as I (had) arrived at the railway station, the train left.
l 结构：in + 语言
翻译：sing in English 用英语唱歌

4. Apart from a few words, I do not know any French at all.
l 词组：a few words 几句话
l 区别：除……以外　except不包括在内 besides包括在内
　apart from = besides / except
① We all went except him. 他没有去。
② We all went besides him. 他也去了。
③ We all went apart from him. 都可以

5. Neither of us spoke during the journey.
l 词组：during the journey在途中 = on the way
l 单词：neither ['naiðə, 'ni:ðə] 注意英音与美音的读音不同

l 辨析：I learn 我得知（本来不知道）
V.S. I know 我知道 （我本来就知道）
l 句式：As + 主语 + 动词 表示“正如……”。
翻译：正如他所说，英语学起来很简单。
As he says, English is easy to learn.
