On the Stork Tower
The sun beyond the mountain glows;
The Yellow River seawards flows.
You can enjoy a grander sight;
By climbing to a greater height.
The Ode to the Chile Prairie
Below the Yinshan Mountains lies the Chile
Prairie.
Over the earth hangs the sky like a huge yurt.
Between the vast sky and the boundless Earth,
Flocks and herds appear as grass bends to wind.
3.
Home-coming
Oh, I return to the homeland I left while young,
Thinner has grown my hair, though I speak the same
tongue.
My children, whom I meet, do not know am I,
“Where are you from, dear sir?” they ask with
beaming eyes.
Going up the Hill
I go by slanting stony path to the cold hill;
Where rise white cloudy, there appear cottages and
bowers.
I stop my cab at maple woods to gaze my fill;
Frost-bitten leaves look redder than early spring
flowers.
A Quatrain
Two golden orioles sing amid the willows green;
A flack of white egrets flies into the blue sky.
My window faces to snow-crowned western mountain
scene;
My door oft says to eastward-going ships
“Goodbye!”
New Year’s Day
Amid the boom of fire crackers a year has come to an
end;
And the spring wind has wafted warm breath to the
wine.
While the rising sunshines over each and every
household;
People would put up new peach wood charm for the
old.
下学期
To Wang Lun
I, Li Bai, sit aboard a ship about to go,
When suddenly on shore your farewell songs
o’erflow.
However deep the Lake of Peach blossoms may be,
It’s not so deep, O, Wang Lun! As your love for
me.
Ode to the Willow
Purest emerald is thy overall color of shade,
Thousands of twigs droop like fringes of jade,
By whose hands thy slim leaves are made?
The February breeze is like a scissors’ blade.
The Mourning Day
A drizzling rain falls like tears on the mourning
day,
The mourners’ heart is going to break on his
way.
“Where can a wine-shop be found to drown my sad
hours?”
A cowherd points to a cot amid apricot flowers.
The little pool
Languidly trickling down the silent spring’s
lips,
The water reflects trees, the sun and the
breeze.
Tiny lotuses just emerge from the pool at ease,
Where dragonflies perch themselves on the tips.
The book
There lies a glassy oblong pool,
Where light and shade pursue their course.
How can it be so clear and cool?
For water fresh comes from its source.
The Waterfall in Mount Lu Viewed from
Afar
The sunlit Censer Peak exhales incense like
cloud;
Like an upended stream the cataract sounds loud.
Its torrent dashes down three thousand feet from
high
As if the Silver River fell from the blue sky.
