Grand Hotels Magazine: When we
talk about Sanya, Yalong Bay
is the first that occurs
to us because it has a
well-established hospitality industry,
while your hotel is in
Xiao Dong Hai. What would
you do to attract the
guests?
Mr. Tony Marrinan:
As one of the
most beautiful places in Sanya,
the newly developed area Xiao
Dong Hai is surrounded by
pristine white sands and
majestic mountains, offering guests
inspiring views as well as
advantageous location and
transportation. InterContinental Sanya
Resort is a mere 5
minutes away from the city
of Sanya and a 25-minute
drive from the Sanya Phoenix
International Airport. As for
the tourist attractions, the
hotel is only 1.5 km,
namely 2 minutes away from
Luhuitou Park (Deer Turning-round
Park), 30 km away from
The End of the Earth and
55 km away from Nanshan
Cultural Tourism Zone. So
besides Yalong Bay, Xiao Dong
Hai is the new hot spot
in Sanya.

is the first resort under
InterContinental Hotels Group in
Sanya, could you introduce to
us about the features and
highlights of the resort?
Mr. Tony Marrinan: I believe
every guest to our resort
will be fascinated by its
design and view. The stylish
design of the resort differs
from every other resort in
Hainan. Boasting an independent
beach area, our guests can
enjoy an exclusive view without
the crowds. Every luxurious
guest room in the resort
has splendid views of the
ocean and the beach. The
contemporary design of the rooms
enables a seamless transition
between the indoors and the
outdoors, and even the sunken
baths offer stunning outdoor
views while relaxing. The resort
has 5 swimming pools, 8
restaurants and bars serving
delicate cuisine from across the
world. The one-of-a-kind over
the sea Chinese Restaurant is
only 100 metres from the
shore. Diners are treated to
never-before-seen views of the
coral reef as they enjoy
their meal. The Mediterraneo,
Asian Village, Hai Lounge, Beach
Bar and Club InterContinental

be more and more hotels
in Sanya in the future,
how do you plan to face
the challenges?
Mr. Tony Marrinan: It’s true
that the rapid development of
China has attracted a lot
of attention. Yet we’re unique
from the style of design
to our service, and we’ll
impress every guest at the
resort and have already won
their recognition.
Grand Hotels Magazine: As Hainan
will be a free trade zone
and is planning to develop
yacht projects, it’s no doubt
that Sanya, Hainan would become
an international tourist destination
that attracts more people. What
do you think of the
development of Hainan?
Mr. Tony Marrinan: A new
round of the development in
Hainan is already under way.
Hainan has been exploring the
possibility of interactive development,
in other words Sanya and
Haikou promote each other to
elevate the overall development
of Hainan. The Eastern High
Speed train opened at the
end of 2010 shortens the
3.5 hour trip between Haikou
and Sanya to a mere 80
to 90 minutes, making it
much more convenient to travel
between two cities.

《大酒店》：海南将成为免税区，并将开发游艇项目，海南三亚将打造成为国际性的旅游度假胜地，必定将吸引更多的客流。您是如何看待海南的发展？
马东尼先生：海南新一轮的开发是势在必行。海南已经在探讨联动性发展。海口带动三亚，三亚带动海口，整体提升海南的发展。2010年底刚开通的往返于海口与三亚之间的东线高速列车把以前需要3个半小时的行程缩短到80-90分钟即可到达，更加的便利。
