Zheng Min's performance art 'vagus' :The artist will swallow a glass bead and the bead will go through his digestive system untill it is excreted. Then The artist will clean the bead, and swallow it again. . . This catena will be
repeated till the glass bead disappeared . The bead has been swallowed for the first time, as shown above,At 15:00 the April 20th 2011.
Descriptions by the artist:
This'swallow the bead game' as I name it 'vagus' because when the bead is swallowed into digestive system ,it will be perceived by the vagus nerve. 'Vagus' (a term such as 'ego' of the opposite), is a medical terms, comes from Latin' vago', meaning as' wandering'. As an obsessive-compulsive disorder sufferer, I' ll always thinking about the bead , and this effort will fail because the digestive system is controlled by the vagus nerve. I will always feel for the bead compulsively, until it disappears. But the bead will not be digested, unless I forget it, however,it never goes away. Perhaps, over time, it can cure my OCD.
