Dayangshan National Forest Park is situated in the Suzhou New
District, 10 kilometers away from the downtown of ancient
Suzhou.
Almost 90 percent of the
park covers with lush trees, so it becomes a popular place for
hiking, relaxing and sightseeing.
All paths are well constructed with bamboo or trees along two
sides, where it is indeed a pleasure for hiking.
The big three Chinese characters were written by Mr. Wukuan, who
was the third talent scholar of Suzhou in Ming Dynasty. The scripts
mean the mountain was strong enough to control the city of the Wu
State.
Wenshu Temple built over 1600 years ago must be one of the oldest
temples of Suzhou. Buddha Wenshu is the symbol of big wisdom in
Buddhism.
The most typical is the temple consists of two parts, the most part
is located at the bottom of the hill, but the rest is up the
hill.
The Wenshu Hall surrounded by Osmanthus fragrans is a good place to
do a short meditation for purifying our soul.
The Wenshu Hall is on the edge of the cliff, so many young couples
came here for dying for love in old times.
It must attract many people to come here in old times because it is
obvious to see many inscriptions on precipices.
The park includes some hills even though they are not so
high.
The views are fascinating while reaching the summit.
One Chinese traditional saying goes 'The boundless scenery is at
the perilous peak'.
Stunning views from the pavilion on the top are a little different
from the imagination of Suzhou we already knew.
The park is so huge that tourists have a lot opinions for hiking
and sightseeing.
Travel Tips
1. Dayangshan is beside the downtown of ancient Suzhou, so it is
easy to get to.
2. The level of hiking is not difficult, and it's simple to arrange
2-4 hours' hiking.
3. Learn some basic knowledge about Buddhism and legend stories of
Suzhou.
