First and foremost, Lala is a
university student whose major is Media Production. And I love
movies the most, especially cult film.
A cult film is a particular
type of film. It is not about the genre. Cult films can include any
content. They can be produced by big film companies, but also can
be done by amateurs in small number of people. The general
characteristic is that the theme and content are mostly not wide
welcome a
nd popular. In this case, cult films cannot draw much attention,
and they even fail to project in cinema.
If we have a look at the large
rage of films showing in cinema, they are more or less the same.
Those blockbusters have famous actors and shinning visual effects.
But, the genres are limited, such as romantic comedy, action,
thriller, etc.
People like me, who watch a lot
of films or seek for some tougher visual and emotional experiences,
would tend to the cult film. Filmmakers working in the cult film
are not only for money, but mostly to show their fantasy ideas and
their personalities. In this case, films become purer.
In China, cinemas, TV channels
and public do not encourage or care about the cult film. Therefore,
to find and watch a good cult film is really a pain in the ass.
Even if we have the super Internet, sometimes we still feel
difficult. So, we need a online social group, to share the films
and discuss them. That is why Lala set up the group named “Love the
One Cult Film”.
Lala will upload posters of
cult films and write comments about those cult films I have
watched. And so do my group members, B fans. I also encourage B
fans to share the link where they get the cult film. Recently, I am
planning that whether I can hold cult film show night in MP
classroom. Our B fans will choose a film, we watch it together and
feel free to talk about ideas. If the film is okay to find, the
activity would be hold weekly, since we do not have many class now.
What is more, “Love the One Cult Film” allows B fans to upload good
screenplays or ideas. In think, making stories is a lot of fun. If
the time and technique situation allow us, I want to shoot our own
cult film. Get your hand dirty! Why not?
Our group “Love the One Cult
Film” may not get many members from our class mates or friends,
because the group linked on douban, not renren. In fact, members on
douban may feel more interested in our theme, the cult film.
Because, douban is a social network which is intended for sharing
movies, music and books. I already send invitations to some of my
friends on douban.
Let us see, what
happens.
