Both producers and the general public should benefit from creating the new works

Copyright is a controversial topic since the Internet keeps
impacting the society. Copyright includes rights to copy, to
distribute and adapt or change one's work. It also helps protect
the work from misusing by others, and insure the authors can get
benefits from their work. Due to characteristics of Internet, such
as anonymous, global, numerical ways of presenting and different
situations in each countries, to set up an Internet law is such a
pain in the ass.
However, not only the author can benefits from his work, but the general public should receive the benefits. WHY?
As, we all know, the author spent time and effort for one piece of product. He deserves to reward. Why the public, as the consumers benefit from that as well?
