逃票

In the 1980s and 1990s, train travel in China was a relative luxury. For many ordinary families, train tickets are not only a passport to a faraway place, but also part of the family's economic burden. At that time, train ticket evasion became a 'risky' action taken by some people in order to save money.
I vaguely remember that one summer, some friends and I were planning to visit a nearby city. We were cash-strapped, but we didn't want to miss the trip, so the idea of fare evasion crept into our minds.
That day, we arrived at the railway station early. The platform was bustling with people coming and going. We mingled in the crowd, pretending to be passengers waiting for the bus, but keeping an eye on the movement of the ticket inspector. While the ticket inspector was busy in the other cars, we took the opportunity to get into the junction of the cars. The space was small, but it was big enough for our small bodies.
Our hearts beat faster as the train started slowly. The peo
ple in the carriage talked or read, and no one noticed our presence. We held our breath carefully for fear of being discovered. Whenever a flight attendant passed, we would shrink into the corner nervously for fear of being discovered.
Along the way, we were both excited and nervous. We sometimes quietly peeped out to enjoy the scenery outside the window, and sometimes joked with each other to ease the tension. But more often than not, we spend our time worrying and anxious.
Finally, the train reached its destination. We hopped off the bus like thieves and mingled with the crowd exiting the station. At that moment, we felt more relaxed and free than ever before. Although the process of ticket evasion is full of tension and anxiety, the feeling of adventure makes us feel exciting and excited.
In retrospect, the experience of fare evasion, though brief, left a deep impression on us. It allows us to experience different life experiences, but also makes us more cherish the present life. Nowadays, train travel has become more convenient and comfortable, but the memory of that fare evasion will remain in our hearts forever.
