Meta-Knowledge
( 6.
Certainty And
Fuzziness )
That gang of pseudo
scholars who always want
to
persecute our TCM (Traditional Chinese
Medicine)
also has a common trick, which is to flaunt
the
certainty or accuracy of
their knowledge.
Namely, those guys always think they can
accurately
diagnose diseases, while the doctors of TCM
only
b
lur judgments and jokingly refers to it as the
'Uncertainty Principle of
TCM'
In fact, this is excessive paranoia
.
Objectively speaking, when diagnosing
diseases,
some diagnoses of TCM are indeed vague
and
incomprehensible.
However, it is good enought if a prescription
can
be issued and effective treatment can be
provided
to the patient.
Similarly, experienced melon farmers can tell
whether a watermelon is ripe or sweet by patting
the watermelon, so, there is no need to cut it
into pieces, which may
result in wastage.
Although the doctors of western medicine
always
like analysing many tiny pieces, they
may not
necessarily get a correct
judgment.
As we know, some
doctors are also helpless
towards certain diseases, and their common
methods are:
Inspection relies mainly on
instruments,
while diagnosis relies mainly on
guessing.
We cannot use this as a reason to say that
the
doctors' professional level is not
high
Because both the human body and the
pathogenic
factors are extremely so complex that may
lead
to fuzzy
discrimination.
And both TCM and Western medicine maybe
meet
this kind of embarrassment.
In 2022, I wrote an article
titled
' The Eighth Law of
Medical
Science
' on this
topic, which discussed the
issues of certainty
and fuzziness, so I will not
repeat it.
Regarding the relationship between the
certainty
and fuzziness of knowledge, we should still
have
the following understanding:
1. Due to the complexity or rapid changes of
certain systems and
unpredictable patterns,
cognitive ambiguity is inevitable.
For example, understanding of human body
and its diseases.
2. Due to the uncertainty of conditions or
frequent external interference, cognitive
ambiguity is inevitable.
3. Perhaps knowledge itself has great
stability,
but as a specific individual, there are
biases
in his understanding of
knowledge, which
inevitably leads to cognitive
ambiguity.
For example, the knowledge of our TCM is a
relatively mature and complete knowledge
system, but unfortunately, many persons do
not have enough efforts or intelligence at
all, so that those
persons always wander or
stand outside of our TCM , resulting in a
vague understanding of our TCM
.
4、 The certainty and fuzziness of knowledge
are also dynamically changing.
Our understanding of a thing may be vague at
the beginning, and may become even more vague
for a period of time afterwards.
However, as long as we have the correct
methods
and rational thinking, our understanding of
this thing will become
less ambiguous and
more deterministic.
5. In fact, it is difficult for us to
completely
eliminate the ambiguity
of our understanding
of almost anything, unless the thing is
extremely
simple and its association with the
outside world
is also extremely simple.
So, it is extremely irrational to ignore the
relationship between
certainty and fuzziness of
knowledge, to use some fuzziness of TCM
to
ruin our TCM !
