疑难解析上却有一句:He witnessed to have seen the prisoner near the scene of the crime.到底该怎样使用这个短语？　　　　
　　　　　
答：（1）witness作名词时，后面可以接介词to, against或of。比如：My clothes are a witness to my poverty. （我的衣服证明我是贫穷的。）/ He is a witness to the will.（他是遗嘱的见证人。）/ She is a witness against the accused.(她是不利于被告的证人。) / She is a witness of an incident.（她是事件的目击者。） （2）witness作及物动词时，后面直接接名词。比如本刊例句: Tom witnessed the accident. (汤姆目睹了事故的经过。) （3）如果witness作不及物动词，一般后面应该接介词to, against或for。比如：He witnessed against (for) her in the charge.（他在控告中作不利<有利>于她的证明。）/ He witnessed to having seen the man enter the building.（他作证说曾看到此人走进大楼。）所以，你问的这个句子，还是修改成这样为好：He witnessed to having seen the prisoner near the scene of the crime.
