一、教学目标
Teaching aims:
Review the target vocabulary
Encourage Ss to use the reading skill
Conclude the information from the story and do the related
Exx.
Learn something about the important Chinese and English
festivals and learn some English cultures to enlarge the Ss
minds.
二、教学重难点
教学重点:Act out the
story.
教学难点:通过阅读搜集有效信息,比较中西方文化的差异。

四、教学过程
Warming-up
Greetings
Free talk -- Make the pupils talk about Halloween freely in
groups.
Procedures:
Task 1 Act out the story.
Activity 1 Pre-reading:
Ask Ss to look at the pictures and answer
the following questions
1>How many children are there in the story?
2>Who are they?
Activity 2 Listen and sense the story.
Listen to the tape first sense the story and answer the
question:
When does the story happen?
Activity 3 Read and answer.
Ask Ss to read the story and answer
the questions.
i. What have they got from the first
family?
ii. whose(谁的) house do they go to
then?
iii. What do they do when(当…的时候) they
find the window upstairs is open?
iv. Where is Mr. Pearson’s
house?
Activity 4 Post-reading-- Listen
and judge.
Ask Ss to listen to
the story and tick True or False
1> There is a light on upstairs in Mr.
Pearson’s house.
2> There is a ladder at the back of
the house.
3> There is a
thief(小偷) in the house.
Activity 5 Read the story.
Read in sections or read aloud in sections for better
results. Read after each sentence and imitate the pronunciation and
intonation.
The whole class read the story in various forms,such as
reading the whole class,reading by roles,ect.
Activity 6 Act out the story.
Make the pupils act out the
story in groups.
If necessary, give the
children some help.
Choose some groups to act out
the story in front of the class.
Activity 7 Perform the story.
The teacher guides the pupils to try to act out the story and
selects 2-3 groups for demonstration. The teacher gives timely
guidance and evaluation.
Homework
Read the story and act
out it for your parents.
Do the Ex.3 on page 63.

六、Reflection:
Choose your favourite part to act out in your
groups.
The children are not familiar with the new words,read a
little difficult, but they can participate actively.
The pupils don’t have enough time to read the story . But the
kids read it with all their hearts. It’s great. After class,
intensive reading is required.
